You might think that when you see me

That my smile is one from the heart.

But I can tell you now, my friend,

It's all a show of art.

I smile to hide my secrets,

and all that they entail;

My memories, my long lost friends,

And all the ships that sailed.

I'll never show you all my truths,

the tears I hold inside,

The pain of unfriended silence

With no one to confide.

So before you think me silly,

Mischievious and proud,

Look again at the smile before you

And what I dare not say aloud.
